This is the time of year when Summer is on our doorstep. The sheep flock are now all grazing on luscious green fields. Lambs are are all growing well and the 17 pet lambs which we have reared since birth are now having T.L.C. in the paddock beside the cottages. The sheep flock and their young have been moved onto separate parts of the farm, ranging from land at 50mtr above s.l.(lowland) to 650mtr a.s.l. (mountain). Shearing is upon us and wool is stored in the large ‘bags’ until collection for the wool sales.

The cows have by now all calved and the young are suckled on their mother until weaning in the autumn. We only have two cows waiting to calve and these are kept close to the farmhouse in order that we can keep a careful eye on them. Thirtyfive calves were born in the Spring and another ten last autumn. They will all be sold in two years time when ready for marketing and will be purchased as prime beef by the largest supermarkets.

Trees, growing on the farm and which were felled in February have now been sawn into usable oak timber which will be used to make floorings, beams and furniture. This is the time when a person can appreciate the beautiful countryside we live in. Just look down onto the sprawling Conwy valley and estuary and then glimpse the ancient Old Llangelynnin Church nestling as if time time had stood still since it was built over 500 years ago.
